Mossley Hill Team Ministry
St Matthew & St James
Empowering, equipping and enabling people for whole-life discipleship.
Mark & Shirley Sinclair
Cambodia
Shirley joined our Church as a student in 1978, followed by Mark in 1985, when he came to work in Liverpool. Both having been actively involved in Sunday
School, the PCC and house group leadership, they were called to overseas mission. They approached OMF International and, with their children Lisa and Martin moved to Phnom Penh in Cambodia in 2001, where they began their ministry. Mark was a lecturer in Phnom Penh University whilst Shirley became OMF Team Librarian and also had a counselling ministry. She now also works part-time for Prison Fellowship in Cambodia, debriefing social workers.
They returned to Cambodia in 2006. Mark was greeted with the news that his MSc course at the Royal University had been cancelled. Unfortunately, while he was in the UK, the standard of the course was allowed to drop to such an extent that people were no longer interested in applying. Mark was very disappointed and had to begin looking for another teaching post. He found a job as a volunteer professor in a Korean-backed institution (National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia or NPIC), which has been set up to provide technical university level education to mainly poor Cambodians. He is teaching the Khmer lecturing staff there and hopes that there will not be so many problems of corruption.
